Ranch Needs

The rare breed conservation projects are long term and expensive and we appreciate any help we can get to save expenses or provide equipment. Volunteers are also welcome as this is a solo woman operation and I can always use a hand. Just to give you an idea of the cost of maintaining this operation here are some of our major expenses:

Ranch Needs
Hay $25 per day Minerals $35/mo Grains $10/week
Vaccines/Medications: $300/year (routine does not include emergencies) Shearing Approximately $450/year
Replacement Fencing $300/year Veterinary Expenses $500/year(routine does not include emergencies)
Friends of the farm are always asking what the ranch needs. So we developed a list. Some of it is stuff you may have laying around and your not using. Anything is appreciated to keep cost down.
Hay, Straw,Grain & Feed Obviously the most crucial part of our operation is keeping the animals fed. We appreciate any donations Hay, straw, grain, feed including gift cards from feed and supply stores.
Glass Jars for Milk if you have some of these stored away in the garage, we can put them to use. They do not need to be canning jar. Pickle, olive, salsa, etcl. work perfectly for us.
Egg Cartons We get 6-8 eggs per day. They have to me stored and egg cartons are the ideal way. We can also use some regular egg customers. $3.00 per dozen $4.00 Per 18-ct
Old Towels Lambing season requires lots and lots of towels. If you have some that are a little tattered and ready to be retired from the bathroom, those are perfect.
Wash Cloth/Hand Towels The dairy girls need a fresh wash rag every day. So, again, a little tattered is perfectly okay or us. Washing and bleaching daily wears them out in a hurry. Wash clothes have short lives here.
Gates & Fencing If you have some old gates or fencing laying around. We can put them to use here. Size does not matter. Sheep farms never have enough gates. Any size, any style. There is always a need for fencing, fence panels, pallets, anything that keeps the critters contained.
Wish List This is the stuff that we dream of having but cannot afford: Milking Machine Farm Store Building Small Compact Tractor
